Our Harbour Master been positive about the way in which racing fleets have conducted themselves during last year’s sailing season, given the need to be always considerate of other harbour users.
There were, however, a couple of incidents in the Summer with Junior Regatta committee boat start lines, set too close to moored yachts and anchorage areas. This has led to an amendment for 2025 to the Race Code of Conduct to address the Harbour Master’s concerns.
This amendment was circulated and noted by the sailing secretaries of all harbour clubs at the annual fixtures meeting. Then later at the AGM last December, the update was adopted by Council Members.
For those unfamiliar with this document, it relieves clubs from having to submit individual risk assessments to the Harbour Master for their club racing.
Please can you make sure your race management teams read and observe the Race Code of Conduct and to help the below link will take you to the updated document with the changed wording shown in red.
