Solentmet Support Group (SSG) have been providing invaluable real-time weather information for local boat owners from their two stations ‘Cambermet’ & ‘Chimet’ located here in Chichester Harbour and on ‘West Pole.’
Now after many years of service to the boating community SSG are upgrading and future proofing the free to public data provided on their website. The current system transmits data using VHF radio, but will this season take advantage of G4 & G5 cellular technology and stored information is moving away from an ‘in house server’ to using Microsoft Azure the public cloud computing platform.
To help with this transition the Chichester Harbour Federation are pleased to donate £2,000 to ensure this service for the boating community continues.
