At the recent meeting of the Harbour clubs’ sailing secretaries hosted by Emsworth Sailing Club, a range of ideas were shared amongst the participants on plans for the new sailing season and common challenges faced by all clubs, particularly around volunteering.
‘Missing’ race marks are a re-occurring problem during the sailing season that can easily spoil the best-laid plans for a good day on the water.
In an attempt to improve communication around these ‘missing’ marks we are trialling a dedicated WhatsApp group, ‘Chichester Harbour Race Marks’, to which the sailing secretary of each club will belong and report any issues regarding the Harbour marks. Clubs will then be aware, hopefully in good time, of any problems with the marks and it will also enable the club responsible for that mark to take remedial action.
