This year’s Annual General Meeting took place via the now normal platform of Zoom. We were delighted that 37 representatives from across the harbour joined us to reflect upon the year during which we said a sad farewell to Chris Savage, our former chairman, who passed away in the summer. His friend and fellow member of the Chairman’s Committee and Conservancy Advisory Committee, Robert Macdonald led the tributes to him before one minute’s silence was observed to reflect upon Chris’ many achievements.
The financial accounts for 2019 were approved, Federation officers were elected (Alison Wakelin, Simon Radford – Chairman, Pam Marrs and Chris Blevins), members of the Chairman’s Committee were reappointed with two new members (Sue Nash from Dell Quay and Kerry Marriott for MDL). Marcus Lawford of Emsworth and David Foster of Itchenor were approved to sit on the Conservancy’s Advisory Committee, along with the two existing members, while Marcus Lawson’s continuation on the RYA South Committee was ratified.
Our special thanks to John Nash who has stepped down from office this year. John’s contribution and commitment have been much appreciated by the Federation.
Points of discussion during the meeting were:
- Race Code of Conduct – this has been updated this year and forms part of Chichester Harbour’s compliance with the ‘Port Marine Safety Code’. It will be circulated to all clubs and available on our website
- Approval for a new port-handed Federation mark to be laid between Park and Astra. It will be named Baker and its precise location will be agreed with the Harbour Master
- Reports from Federation Chairman, RYA, RNLI and the Chairman of the Conservancy Advisory- available soon on the website
- Green Solutions – an informative talk from Sue Nash and Peggy Field from Emsworth on how clubs can help our environment by making small changes to the day to day running of our clubs
