We would kindly remind members that all vessels (including tenders, paddleboards, jet skis, canoes, kayaks, SUPs and windsurfers) using Chichester Harbour have a statutory obligation to pay harbour dues and to display their harbour dues plaque.
The revenue derived from harbour dues and mooring fees is used by Chichester Harbour Conservancy to meet the full cost of the management of the Harbour. This includes, giving advice and assistance, maintenance of navigational aids and the enforcement of byelaws. Harbour dues apply whether your boat is kept on a permanent mooring, in one of the many marinas or if you are just visiting.
Receipt of payment is issued in the form of a plaque which must be affixed on the port side aft of the hull. The charge will be considered ‘not paid’ unless the plaque has been fixed in this way.
The owner of a vessel evading payment or not displaying a plaque is liable to a penalty three times the amount of the charge.
