Chichester Harbour Convervancy

Its duty is the conservancy, maintenance and improvement of the Harbour and the Amenity Area for recreation and leisure, nature conservation and the natural beauty. The Conservancy is the statutory Harbour Authority and is responsible for the safety of navigation, the regulation of moorings, works and dredging, enforcement of harbour byelaws and the collection of dues and charges.

Hayling Island Lifeboat Station is situated on the South East corner of the Island, known locally as Sandy Point. The station has two inshore lifeboats, an Atlantic 85, B Class lifeboat "Derrick Battle" and a D Class lifeboat (IB1) "Amanda, James & Ben". Both boats are operational 24/7 all year round and cover an area 15 nautical miles from the lifeboat station.
